Nickelodeon Weekend Carnival Fun!

We were able to experience the Nickelodeon Weekend Carnival at the Bonifacio Global City Open Field in Taguig City (behind NBC Tent) last April 26 (Saturday). The free entrance carnival tent opened from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Nickelodeon turned the place into one exciting theme park that sets you on a trail to everything gooey and adventurous. The splatter-filled fun started with Nick signature games, inflatable fun and other sizzling hot stopovers including a face painting station (which smother those who love Go, Diego Go with camouflage or animal prints or lightning bolts for Danny Phantom fans). Way out and more daring Nicksters tried the Jimmy Neutron style paint-on glasses and the wacky color-your-hair station. Sam wasn't able to try these stopovers because of a very long waiting line. There was also this bouncy trampoline rideat Danny Phantom’s Fright Flight that Sam really wanted to try. Of course we didn't allowed her though she's willing to try it...haha! Very brave indeed! There's also the Fairyland-inspired tent where you may catch must-see Dora The Explorer episodes. Of course, nothing beats summer but a “splash down” into Bikini Bottom at SpongeBob SquarePants Bubbling BikiniBottomtent. Here, kids will surely enjoy the bubble show, bubble blowing and of course, a “dive under the sea” of sponge and foam to look for SpongeBob’s pet snail, Gary. Sam and her dad were able to try the "catch patrick star" game where she accumulated some stamps and a cute stickers as prizes. There was also this Aang of Avatar’s Four Nation Action Area where a free-for-all play with earth blocks (clay molding), air balls shooting (balls-in-a-hoop game), knock down fire power balls and hit the bulls eye with your water squirters. Of course, this station was a hit to the little boys.

All throughout the event, Nicksters really made some noise and joined the Nick Parade led by the drum and bugle corps. The kids were awed by stilt walkers, fire eaters, on-stage games and a fascinating fireworks display that ends the exciting day. Too bad, we weren't able to wait for Dora & Boots and watch the fireworks as the grand finale. Sam was already cranky and were already hungry, we leaved at around 7pm. :p

Jam & Crocs Fitting @ Rustans

The kiddie section of Rustans mall Makati last April 23 was jampacked by a couple of cutie kids from different corners of north & metro south. We were asked, the parents to come by Mommy Joanne and bring our kids to have a fitting session with them. It was a great opportunity to finally meet Mommy Joanne in person at last, the brains of Kidsahoy. I'm also glad to meet other multiply mommies and kids. Sam was one of the lucky kids that has been chosen to join the mini fashion show of Kidsahoy Caravan of fun that will be held on Glorietta 4 park on May 3-4. It'll be an exciting event not only for the kids but for us...the stageparents as well!. Thanks for the opportunity Mommy Joanne. :p God bless & more power to Kidsahoy! :p

Experience Jurrasic at Dino Island

Since hubby is home, we ensure to go out and bring our Sam to different kiddie places around the metro as much as possible. He'll be staying for more than a month with us and hopefully we can provide our Sammy her chance to go somewhere she'll truly enjoy. And one of our agenda was to bring her to Dino Island. We were able to visit and experience the biggest Dinosaur expo in Southeast Asia just located inside Star City in Pasay. Come and see the life size moving dinosaurs inside the 3,500sqm Jurassic setting. Sam was truly amazed to see those big robotic dinosaurs. The Dino Island Park will definitely provide a great form of entertainment for us aside from giving us a bird’s eye view of the distant past when humans were not yet walking on this earth!

Aliwan Fiesta 2008

Be prepared as the country's biggest, loudest, and the most colorful festivals will once again converge at the Philippine capital of Manila for the annual Aliwan Fiesta 2008. This year, the Aliwan 2008 is slated May 1-3. The Aliwan Festival is organized by the media outfit, Manila Broadcasting Company. The Aliwan Fiesta is actually made up of three parts, the beauty pageant known as the Reyna ng Aliwan, the Float competition and the street dance competition of the various festivals from all over Luzon Visayas and Mindanao.

The Aliwan Fiesta is a yearly event anticipated by the many. Organized bythe media outfit Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC), the Aliwan Festival aims to promote the rich, colorful and vibrant festivals of the Philippines. Through the Aliwan Fiesta, one does not need to hop from one island to another just to experience the non-stop streetdancing, and the loud drumbeating. No need to take a bus and roam all over Luzon and fly to Visayas or sail the high seas going to Mindanao. It's all being carried here in the country's capital, Manila. Get the chance to see Cebu City's Sinulog Festival represented by the Lumad Basakanon perform their Dance ritual. See the Tribu Paghida-et of Iloilo City's Dinagyang Festival perform their dance routine. It's also your chance to see other equally colorful and beautiful festivals like the General Santos, Kalilangan Festival, Zamboanga City's Hermosa festival, Baguio City's Panagbenga Festival and Maguindanao's Padang-padang Festival. Its seeing all the country's best all in just one sitting.

The list of the 2007 Aliwan Fiesta winners can be found here. This year, I would be very very glad to see if the following festivals would join, or return to Aliwan again.

Pamulinawen Festival of Laoag City
Bonok Bonok Marajaw Karajaw of Surigao City
Diyandi Festival of Iligan
Sinulog Festival of Cebu
Masskara Festival of Bacolod City
Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo City
Tultugan Festival of Maasin, Iloilo
Halad Festival of Pigcawayan North Cotabato
Kadayawan Festival of Davao City
Pintaflores Festival of San Carlos City

The highlight of the Aliwan Festival is the grand streetdance competition on May 3, 2008. The streetdance will start from the Quirino Grandstand and will end at the Aliw Theater, beside the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Based on the last 2 Aliwan Fiestas I have witnessed, there will be three judging areas: The Quirino Grandstand and the Aliw Theater as the main judging areas and the area right in front of the Rajah Sulayman Fountain in Malate for the streetdance competition. The Aliwan Fiesta 2008 Streetdance parade will start at 4PM.

For the complete coverage of the 2008 Aliwan Fiesta, please go to the Aliwan Fiesta page.
This is a great opportunity for all those photographic enthusiasts like me & hubby. Hope we can witness this once a year festival celebration.

"Have you ever wondered what the future is like and what it holds for everyone? Welcome to the SM Science Discovery Center, where you get to experience tomorrow's technology today!"

We were able to visit the SM Science Discovery Center (SMSDC), the first Technology-Based, Highly Interactive Science Learning theme park in the country, housed in a 3000 square meter, two-level facility in the SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. SM SDC is devoted to providing the public- kids and adults alike- entertainment, fun, and most of all, a highly interactive way to learn and appreciate Science and Technology.

SM SDC boasts of nine walk-through galleries, namely the Life Clock- a two-level kinetic Time-Capsule; ImagePort- celebrating green screen-technology; Media City- boasts of the latest in PC and Virtual games and software; Transportation Nation- showcasing new technologies in various modes of transporations, which also houses three cockpits for simulation of flight; Grossology- a traveling exhibit which celebrates the reality of Natural Science: how the body works, Spaceship Earth- where you can learn why and how it is to take care of our beloved planet; Virtual Reef- how it looks, sounds, and feels like underwater; City Science- where you can see scale models of the tallest buildings in the world and experience an earthquake; Robot Inc.- see the most famous robots that made a mark in history; and LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Center- where you can download programs to your robots via Bluetooth and cure an ailing heart in the Dr. Hearbeat Program! Aside from these, SM SDC is home to the most advanced 360-degree dome screen technology- the Digistar Planetarium!

The SM Science Discovery Center is aptly situated in the Largest Mall in the Philippines- the SM Mall of Asia. SM MOA, as it is commonly called, is one of the largest Shopping Malls in the world- sixth only in terms of gross floor area. SM MOA consists for four buildings - the Main Mall, the South Carpark Building, the North Carpark Building, and the two-level Entertainment Mall. The last building houses the SM Science Discovery Center in its Southside. Not only home to world-class facilities such as SM SDC, SM Mall of Asia is a milestone in the Philippine shopping mall industry; an engineering & architectural achievement on its own!

Sam Decorates Cake for Daddy

Sam and I were able to get a cake for her daddy's simple welcome home and birthday party celebration tomorrow. My first choice was supposedly to get a cake from Red Ribbon. I like it more as compared from the cakes of goldilucks though both has a very good impression when it comes to birthday cakes. I was a bit disappointed with the service of Red Ribbon this afternoon. After choosing a nice cake and had it paid already athe cashier, they found out that the cake I purchased was damaged. As what I saw from their display cabinet, it's perfectly preserved and free from any damages they're talking about. Just found out that they're talking about the other cake, another stock from the fridge. I said, how about the one inside the display cabinet, it looks ok and I see nothing bad with the presentation. They immediately told me that It was already reserved by their other customer. I was really annoyed after they told me about it. They should'nt not display any products once it has already been paid. It was really disappointing because I really love their cakes. They even offered me a discount just to keep me from getting the damaged cake. But I said, I don't like it and don't want to purchase a damaged cake. I want something that is presentable for my hubby. After I refunded the payment. Sam & I immediately went to the other cake shop, the Goldilucks. And purchased a new and beautiful cake. I even bought additional flowers and animal candy decors. Sam enjoys decorating her daddy's birthday cake. Can't wait to get a slice of it!...haha!

Can't Wait for Tomorrow

Sam & I are very excited and can't wait for the day after today. Hubby will be coming home tomorrow! Weeeeh!...It's been another year of long waiting for us to finally be with my Sam's dearest daddy "nognog" once again!...hehe :p Though Sam is growing without a father's supervision on her side, I'm always telling beautiful things about her father. We have this big picture of him so that Sam will always remember the face of her daddy. And our constant online communication by means of web chatting is very helpful. Hubby's only tool to see us especially his baby girl in action. Though mms is also available, it's a bit expensive by charging you for every multimedia file you'll send. Web chat is better, and it's free pa. We'll pick him up tomorrow afternoon at the airport, praying for him to have a safe flight and no delays hopefully because I'll be bringing Sam with me. And btw, tomorrow will be also his birthday too! Imagine that?...lol! It'll be a double celebration for us. Oh my gosh, I need to buy a cake for him pa pala...hala! Off to mall for now..hehe! :p

How to deal with Parental Separation Anxiety?

A lot of moms out there know that Separation Anxiety isn't just for our little ones. A lot of you surely felt acutely nervous when your child begins school. Since I'm considering my 3 year toddler to enter nursery this coming school year, I'm already dealing with this kind of stress just thinking about it. I'm already worrying about Sam's adjustment away from me, and will surely miss spending more time with my so ever precious bundle of joy. I know that introducing her to school at an early age will give her a headstart and a chance to develop her own coping skills and a little independence away from me. But how I can deal with it when time comes? Did a few online research and found these helpful tips. Just want to share these ways to my fellow first time mommies to alleviate the stress were feeling.
  • Stay busy. Those two simple words are the key to surviving separation anxiety. Plan ahead and schedule activities before your child leaves, so that you will be occupied in the days after her departure. Even if you don't feel like participating in these activities, go through the motions and allow yourself some time to adjust. Remember how important it is to fill your days, and don't allow yourself to mope around the house.
  • Get support from other parents in similar circumstances. Form a club or start your own Mom's Class or Mom's Summer Camp. Get together regularly to have some child-free fun, or just to share how much you miss your kids. Lean on parents who will understand and empathize.
  • Enjoy your time! Think about all the things you always wanted to do but couldn't, because of your parental responsibilities. Now's your chance! Spend time with a spouse, get involved in yoga, take a class, or redecorate your favorite room in the house. Most parents have a running mental list of projects, but never have the chance to work on them. Consider this free time a golden opportunity.
  • Never make your child feel guilty. It's very likely that your child will pick up on some of your nervousness, but try to maintain a positive attitude. Parental separation anxiety often transfers to children and contributes to their anxiety, which will in turn trouble you and lead to a cycle of guilt. Do your best to be enthusiastic and upbeat about your child's plans. You don't want your child to feel apologetic or to regret his leaving, so make sure that you express only optimistic thoughts.
  • Exchange tokens with your child. Give her something that you made, or a small memento that has meaning for you. Explain the significance of this gift to your child and ask her to give you a small memento, as well. This way, when you are separated, you both will have a souvenir for comfort.

Hope these tips will help us to lessen our worries of being separated with them... temporarily...hehe. I'm kind feeling better now and suddenly got excited for the school scouting when my hubby arrives..lol! :p
***credits to family education for these usefil tips.
