Sam's 3rd birthday simple party preps

Mickey Mouse & Friends birthday theme for Sam

I was inspired by the Disney On Ice show that my daughter & I watched just this January. And since her birthday is fast approaching, i'm still undecided if i'm gonna give her a themed birthday party or what. The original plan with hubby was to give her a Jollibee party instead para less worries in terms of preparations, kasi it comes in a package na. And I want him to be with us to celebrate it para complete family kami. Mike's original sched to come home was supposed to be on this March & the party was planned to have on March na nga din. He just found out that it'll be moved on April pa, to the worst is on May because of work related issues! I told him that it's really late na to celebrate if we still pursue our plans, kawawa naman si Sam. So in other words, i need to prepare a simple party for Sam just with only a week ahead before her actual birthday. It's also kinda too late na din to booked her to have a Jollibee party, late in terms of invitations. I can't guarantee that everybody on the list could attend if ever. And the minimum packs for kids is 30! Sayang naman kung di din makak-attend lahat because of a short notices nga. So no choice but to celebrate it at home, atleast i can control & assume how many will be coming. In less than a week preparations, and no time to visit our famous Divisoria...hehe, here's what i've got from the malls:

Mickey Mouse & friends birthday banner - this is not availbale in any toy store. They have the banner but in different design and not like this, this is much larger. i bought it @ Lollipops Safety Baloon Center, one of the kiosks @ SM north mall.

Mickey Mouse & Friends Lootbags - loaded with assorted mickey mouse goodies inside. Also available at all leading toy store nationwide.

Themed Part Hats - available @ Toy Kingdom or Toys R'us
Themed Paper Plates & Cups - also bought from Lillipops Safety Baloons Center, not availbale at any toy store. The shop is a license distributor of
disney themed party needs. But if you have time to visit Divisoria, there's a lot of local party needs suppliers there.

18' Mickey Mouse Mylar Baloon - also @ Lollipops Safety Baloons Center

Mickey Mouse & Friends assorted color Lollipop Baloons - available @ any toy store

Mickey Mouse Hotdog Baloon - available @ any toy store

Mickey Mouse & Friends Birthday Cake - made of a delicious moist chocolate cake covered with colorful icing & Mickey Mouse & Friends cake toppers

Sam's 3rd Birthday celebration!

Our original plan (with hubby) was to give Sam a Jollibee birthday party on March, in time for his annual vacation But since Mike couldn't make it on March, there's no choice but to have her party @ home na lang & to have it on her actual birthdate. After a short & tiring preparation time, I was able to throw a birthday party for my little girl. We were able to celebrate my little Sam's 3rd Birthday party last Sunday, January 27, 2008 with family, some relatives & a couple of friends. Her actual birthday was supposed to be on the 28th, monday. But since the date falls on weekdays , i decided to celebrate it on the 27th, sunday so that everybody can make it.

She had a Mickey Mouse & Friends birthday theme party. I was inspired by the Disney On Ice show that made me decided to choose the said theme...hehe! Good thing there's an ample source of disney party needs @ the mall. I was able to find a perfect dress to match her minnie mouse headband @ Purple Candy children's clothing. I still got her birthday cake from the maker of her Dora & Barney birthday cake she had from her 2nd birthday party last year. Again, i did all the cookings from my special spaghetti, shanghai, fried chicken, hotdogs on sticks (the usual kiddie menu) with my bro's own version of creamy carbonara, my in-law's share of special mechado & mouth watering pork bbq. They also bought some ice cream for the kids to enjoy. Everybody gorged the afternoon birthday menu.

My little girl is really growing. Not just physically, but socially. She's already becoming more mature & friendly to everybody especially to kids of her age. She used to have her tantrums kasi from her past two birthdays and cries a lot. As in crying to the max everytime her birthday guests starts to arrive. Doesn't want to be touch by anyone & always clinged to me. This year was different. I thought she'll be going to throw her crying drama again...haha!.. But to my surprise i saw the big smile on her face when she saw her young titas (mike's cousin's from her dad's side) with her lolo arrives. She looks so very excited. She entertained them & even shared her toys & played with them. While i'm still busy for the final touched up of her party, im hearing her laughing, giggles & loudly playing with her guests. She really enjoys the company of her young titas! She was able to see her Tita Irish again, whom she initially cried upon arrival but finally gave in after giving her her birthday presence..hehe! We were able to finally meet na din si mommy steff & keanna who happens to be our neighbors lang..haha!. Sayang nga lang that some of her guests didn't make it because of some important reasons. But still looking forward to have a playdate with them in the future..(*wink!*)..hehe! Everybody had a great time & even very tired na, I'm still seeing the big happy smile of my girl @ the end of the day. Happy 3rd birthday baby! =)

Sam & Tinong at Kidz @ Work, Megamall

Since Sam's birthday if already getting nearer and nearer, I'm already in my panic mode about the birthday preps. Mike suddenly informed me that he can't make it home on March, the month that we've planned for Sam's Jollibee birthday party. So changed of plan and Sam's birthday is already only a week ahead!...arrgh! Need to have my birthday to do list at once and one of them is to find a better cake for Sam. I really like the cake from the bakeshop where I got her 2nd birthday cake last year, she had a Dora & Barney themed cake. So to avoid my life to be a little bit more complicated, I've ordered her 3rd birthday cake again on the same shop. Since it's along Pasig, I need to ask my brother to baby sit Sam for the meantime. Good thing he's working @ Megamall and he'll be out by 3pm. So Sam & I headed immediately @ the mall to meet my bro. While I'm on my way to the bakeshop, my bro texted me that he'll bring Sam at Kidz @ Work. An indoor playground where kids rules. From the big slides, to a pool of colorful balls, Sam had a wonderful time. Good thing my bro brought his digicam & he was able to capture everything. =)

Sam's Lip Injury

I panicked yesterday when Sam suddely tipped off to our three-steps concrete marble tiled stairs yesterday afternoon. She already mastered going up & down to the stairs and i always remind her to be very careful and watched her steps everytime. But yesterday she seems missed her balanced and fell down two steps from the top. She really cried and I immediately checked her for bumps and bruises. Im very particular with the head and neck and praying that she didn't hurt those badly. Upon checking her face, i saw the cut on her upper lip and blood already dripping inside her mouth. I got really scared and took a closer look at it if she broke a tooth. Thank god that the injury concentrated only on her upper lip!

I administered immediate compression as first aid to stop the bleeding. And applied frosty iced candy (good thing we have some stock inside the freezer) to her lips to constrict the blood vessels and again, to prevent further bleeding. I immediately called her Ninang Pedia for her availability. She just lives two blocks from our house. I brought Sam to her to check and see if there's further injury. I was releived after she was checked and informed me that it was only a minor cut on her upper lip, and her teeth were not affected. She just asked me to administer a paracetamol every six hours for the pain, unless there's an occurance of fever, every four hours.

This incident really woke me up. Accidents really happened anytime and anywhere especially to our kids who explores a lot and will try everything within their curosity. But still Prevention is the best Treatment. It is still up to us, the parents to develop rules, instruct our child, be a role model, and set the necessary boundaries in order to ensure our child's safety.Constant reminders and heart to heart conversation should be done between us and our kids. We should explain that were not always at their sides to supervise them. Kids of their ages do not have the knowledge, maturity, and foresight to understand the consequences of their actions. They may not understand what were pertaining at first but regular talks will somehow stick the reminders to their little minds. Especially if they already experienced the consiquences and feeling of being hurt, it will alarmed them and hopefully will be really very careful on their actions the next time. =)

swollen upper lip

she looks like she was punched by Paquiao here...hehe

Disney On Ice presents Mickey & Minnie's Amazing Journey

About the Show:
Disney On Ice presents Mickey & Minnie's Amazing Journey takes audiences on an action-packed tour of the imagination to fice exciting destinations filled with favorite Disney friends. Straight from their seats, guests will be transported to the enchanting worlds of Disney's the Lion King, Lilo & Stitch, The Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians and Peter Pan. The arena will be filled with music, magic, and best of all Mickey & Minnie acting as a tour guide for the trip packed with surprises and excitement, including a special appearance by Tinker Bell.

Each scene brings the story to an unusual and exciting new location, including a dreamy London cityscape, a colorful tropical island, an underwater kingdom and the untamed savannah of Africa. Audiences will experience the madcap mischief of Peter Pan's Lost Boys, an upbeat hula with Lilo and Stitch, the easygoing "Hakuna Matata" of simba and friends, and a reggae-spiced ramp led by Sebastian of Disney's The Little Mermaid. "It is an extraordinary show, an adventure through imagination and a family vacation all rolled into one incredible nigh," says producer Kenneth Feld. "You really get a sense you are travelling right alongside Mickey, Minnie and their friends. At the end, without ever leaving your seat, you feel like you've toured London, taken a dip in the sea, joined a safari, and enjoyed a Hawaiian luau."

Disney On Ice presents Mickey & Minnie's Amazing Journey features an international team of award-winning skaters, exciting choreography and a musical score full of hits the whole family will enjoy. These elements appeal to the senses and bring the picture-postcard worlds within the arena to life. "Not is this show a journey to many Disney destinations, it is a journey of emotions," says Director Jerry Bilik. "From the high-flying, daring adventures of Peter Pan to the antics of Sebastian, from the warmth of 101 Dalmatian puppies to the majesty of Simba ascending to his role as the king of all the beasts, the audience will experience excitement, humor, friendship and much more."

Each destination has its own mood and lighting created by Patrick dierson. The foggy London skyline that can be seen from the Darling children's window soon changes to the mysterious forest where Peter Pan and the Lost Boys live in their treehouse., while Simba, Pumbaa and Timon cavort amid the African sunlight of foliage.
The many moods of the show are enhanced by the late Robert Smith's scenic design both on and off the ice. For example, Lilo's Hawaiian home is on the ice, while Stitch's alien planet is depicted above it, creating a multidimentional feel for the show. Captain Hook's rollicking crew sails across the ice on an enormous pirate ship measuring more than 35 feet long and nearly 18 1/2 feet wide, and King Triton's daughters emerge for their music lessons from oversized shells. Costume Designer Arthur Boccia has assembled specific and appealing looks for all the Disney locales. Creatures and characters along the way sport everything from nightgowns to grass skirts to fur coats. Dozens and dozens of black-and-white spotted Dalmatians give way to Triton's finclad daughters.

Musically, Disney On Ice presents Mickey and Minnie's Amazing Journey combines familiar tunes from Disney's Peter Pan, and The Little Mermaid along with new favorites from Disney's Lilo and Stitch and the Academy Award winning songs from The Lion King that the whole family will recognize. The unconventional mix of music inspired Choreographer Cindy Stuart to incorporate original moves, like the boisterous pirate line dance and the fanned-out precision number for Pongo and Perdita's gigantic Dalmatian litter. Stuart also included more classic skating, like David and Nani's touching surf duet, Cruella De Vil's slithery solo and Prince Eric and Ariel's pas de deux. All the elements blend together to create an ingenious and inspirational production that wil pique everyone's interest. The fast pace takes off with Peter Pan and friends' flight to Never Land and continous to soar with a rock-star Stitch surfing above the crowd.

Jam-packed with exciting and original effects, Disney On Ice presents Mickey and Minnie's Amazing Journey through some of Disney's most beloved stories, sure to delight the entire family.

Alvin & The Chipmunks @ Trinoma Mall

Inspite of the heavy rain yesterday, Jan. 12, Sam & I were still ble to watch & enjoy the 11:30am show of Alvin & the Chipmunks @ Trinoma mall's activity center. The front stair seats just in front of the stage were already jampacked with kids of all ages. We still got a better seats just near the center. Sam was actually asking to seat at the front together with all the kids but i did'nt allowed because she doesn't have anyone to be with her aside from me. With Alvin, Theodore & Simon dancing & singing around plus their boss Dave makes the show very enjoyble especially for the kids. I was lucky enough to get a free stub for the meet & greet opprtunity which is only limited to few early birds (thanks for tip again sis Nina..hehe). And luckily more, they gave the hard copy for free! =)

playing around

To be able to watch and get a better seat for the Alvin & The Chipmunks show, It is required to get the free tickets & stub for the Meet & Greet opportunity one day before the show. And that's what i did. Sam & I went to Trinoma's concierge before the mall opens last friday, January 11, for the January 12 show. BTW, I'm very thankful to my good friend Nina for reminding me about this thing. I ensured to arrive there before it hits the 10am mall opening and to have this better chance to grab that precious M&G stub which are only limited to few and a one/family system. Glad I was able to grab a piece! I'm just wondering about the stubs, the color of the stubs. It's not limited to one color only. At the start of the show, i noticed that there's this different stub colors. From yellow, the color of the free tickets for the show, and the red which is the color of the stub for the meet & greet opportunity, the one that i got one day before. Then all of a sudden there was this blue, purple, pink & orange different colors! The blue & purple holders were those got in first for the center seating. Then the pink, orange & red just got the same seating arrangement...meaning you can seat anywhere you want!..lol! Oh well, i think it depends on the mall, they have their own mechanics and procedures to comply.

Because the mall just opened, Sam grabbed the opportunity to play in the mall's indoor playground while there's just only few kids playing. She enjoyed the climbing, horsey horsey backriding and the sliding with no long line waiting. As soon as the 1st day 11:30am show starts, the playground was already accumulated with different kids. We just had our lunch after, did a little shopping, went to the hypermart to do some grocery and then went home.

It all starts with Dave going home one long hard day from his uninteresting job as a product tester and then catching the Chipmunks in an impressive song number. Their enthusiastic presentation reminds him that his day job is just temporary and that once his latest song is heard, fame, fortune and that ever-elusive number one hit will surely all be his. However, when Dave receives yet another rejection call, he decides to finally give up on his dream, once and for all. The Chipmunks, of course, won’t let that happen! And so they secretly record Dave’s song “Witch Doctor,” and even come up with some dance steps for the song.

Last Man On Earth

My ReviewI've got the dvd copy from my brother. I'm not familiar with the movie & even haven't seen the trailer yet. But to think it's a Will Smith movie, i'm sure it's a hit and will be another blockbuster! My bro said that it's still coming soon here in the Phils. Don't ask where he got the movie copy..hehe! =) Anyways, This is the story about a man, the last man (Will Smith) a military scientist Robert Neville and his only companion, a German Shepherd named Sam (aww..imagine that!..lol!). I guess he’s also technically speaking, mayor of New York and president of the United States, since there’s no one else left to fill the jobs. Three years ago, the population of planet Earth was wiped out by a plague, and as far as Robert can tell he’s all that’s left. Except that is, for the mindless, vicious, vampire-like, sunlight allergic creatures which scream, hunt, and bloodlust just outside his front door each and every night. As much as i've wanted to tell the whole story, it's up to you to find out!..hehe. But for sure, i can say for those whose into sci-fi and action-adventure movies, this is one of those edge-of-your-seat, gasping-for-air types movie. It's intense and startling. It will scare you and it will make you chuckle! =)

About the movie:Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable...and manmade. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City...and maybe the world. But he is not alone. He is surrounded by "the Infected"--victims of the plague who have mutated into carnivorous beings who can only exist in the dark and who will devour or infect anyone or anything in their path. For three years, Neville has spent his days scavenging for food and supplies and faithfully sending out radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. All the while, the Infected lurk in the shadows, watching Neville's every move, waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But his blood is also what The Infected hunt, and Neville knows he is outnumbered and quickly running out of time.
