Just trying to play with some photoshop actions on Sam's high reso photos. Been trying to search online where to download free plug-ins and I stumbled to this site. The author have some amazing photoshop actions that is free for download. This action I used works in both PS and PSE, and softens skin, enhances eyes, and applies a custom vignette. Can't wait to try it on Sam's photo and here what I came up with. Take a closer look and you can see my reflection in her eyes. :p

We didn't know that Cartoon Network is already airing this Hello Kitty and Friends Animation series. Sam's not used to watch kasi the shows from Cartoon Network because most of them are animes which she's really not into. We just found out early this morning this cute Hello Kitty 3D animation show. I think it's around 9am because that's the time she usually wakes up to prepare for school. Sam was really amazed when she saw her fave chars on TV. She immediately positioned herself to our living room couch and watched the show. She giggles with her eyes really wide-opened and said...WOW!!! mommy...Hello kitty??...lol! I just dunno if this show airs everyday. She always missed to watch na kasi the Yo Gabba Gabba from Nicksplat because the 8:00am airing time which is still early for her. Her usual wake-up time kasi is 9:00am so i guess she can now regularly watch this Hello Kitty show if it airs daily. :)

Sam made it again to be included in the Top 5 Most Outstanding Pupils in her class for the 2nd grading period. She's Top 4 for the First Grading Period by the way. But this time, she made it to Top 2 na! ...yey!!! I'm always proud of her ever since but now ...more prouder because she's really doing well in school. She's always making it to a point to be included as one of the best pupil in her class...unconsciously. You know, nursery pupil like her especially at her age of 3 doesn't mind at all if she's doing good in her class. She just know that school is fun with all the play activities, seat works, home works, quizzes and exams are just a routine for her that she really enjoy to do everyday. And as a super hands-on mom like me, I'm not forcing her that much to excel in her class. I'm just doing what I think is right for her young mind what she needs to learn. I'm just so blessed and thankful to God that I have a daughter who can easily comprehends what she learns and it totally reflects in her report card. Her daddy don't know the good news yet (super busy from work daw....hmmp!..haha) and for sure he'll be more prouder than I am. Good job baby and always remember that we're just her to support and guide you all the way. We love you very much!

Did you already saw an easter bunny during the spooky season of halloween? Well, here she is!...lol! The make up we just bought was actually for me to try and practice on how to do face painting in forms of flowers or butterfiles. This little girl...my one and only demo girl requested for a bunny make-up instead...haha! What?...I told her that she don't have a bunny costume to match the make up. But she insisted that she likes the bunny make-up! With the white face, red nose and whiskers....as in ditalyado pa talaga ang instructions nya sa kin...my gulay!...what a demanding model...lol!

Here are some of the pics from the Polka Tots Fashion Show held @ Glorietta Activity center last Oct. 31 @ 4:00pm. Everything went off smoothly and the kids same as the stagemoms and parents enjoyed and really had fun. The kids just have a quick practice just right before the show because mommy april was still rushing to finish the boy's clothes. The girls clothes are really gorgeous and the girls really love to wear them...very comfortable and ayaw na ngang hubarin ng iba yung clothes after the show...hehe!

I just had some minor problem with the pics. The fashion show shots, as in the actual show on stage was a bit overexposed!...waaaah!...as in the brightness was ultra bright and all the stage pic were almost white in color! I forgot to adjust the setting of the cam to automatic mode rather than manual mode before giving it to my sister in law....waaaah!...my fault! Good thing that photoshop was able to fix it's colors.

Stef and I decided not to let the girls to do their trick ot treating because of the small chances for their loot to get loaded with treats! Thousands of kids were everywhere as in! We just let them do some kiddie activities inside the area of CA station while waiting for the fashion show. It's really nice to meet a few online mommies who were able to go there and of course seeing familiar mommies again...hehe!

Was able to attend another great and fun but rainy halloween party @ the village lat Oct. 28, 2008. This time, Sam was wearing a pink fairy costume, while her ate Aynrand was wearing the black version. The little Anya wore a cute ladybug costume naman..hihi! :p Thanks to Irish for the invites beacuse we really had a great time especially Sam.

She met new friends and was really happy that she saw Jollibee again!...weeeh! Unfortunately, the house to house trick or treating was not push through because of the heavy rain that was almost non-stop that day. The treats was sent to the clubhouse instead so that the kids can still enjoy filling their loots. Sam almost bagged a full of goodies with very less effort...hehe! Happy Halloween!

KidsTime Magazine Launch

The launch of KT yesterday was a success! Sam & I were able to join the celebration along with mommy Stef and kids...again!..haha and really had a great time. The venue was a bit small for the invited guests. Maybe because the the 1adult=1child policy was not push through at all. Thanks so much Mommy Mel for allotting us a place to seat. Anyways, the venue was fully decorated with colorful balloons, hanging flowers ang butterflies cookies, choco fountain, yummy kiddy food carts and beautiful centerpiece cakes! Sam can't get enough of looking @ the place...busog na busog ang mga mata ika nga!..hehe They really exerted an effort to make it like a wonderland as what they promised. Not to mention great food...as in food carts pa lang busog ka na. And most of all the place was flooded with cakes!...as in the edible one and not for deco purposes only. Sobra dami, ikaw ang mauumay!..lol

I saw some familiar faces from showbizness and media who joined the celebration. It's nice to see again some of our very friendly online mommies there. You know who you are... di ko na mention, dami nyo eh..hehe! So sad nga lang because less photo ops and group pics for us...my cam suddenly got low in battery!...waaah! Anyways, the kids where the one who really enjoyed the celebration, which is my main purpose why I decided to attend anyway. I only wanted Sam to enjoy these kind of kiddie events. And thanks to Stef for joining us because she almost decided not to attend talaga. :p Sam really like the puppet and magic shows. They were also giving away very nice prizes for those who participated in the games. A raffle draw which I won a 2 GC from Jungle Joe. They also gave cellphones who can answer some trivia questions. The magazines were already distributed and they sell extra copies for those who wanted to purchase more. Hays, It's really a tiring but exciting and fun day for all of us especially for the kiddie models of KT and members of CA.

I was able to bring Sam to attend her first ever Trick or Treat experience @ Fun Ranch, Tiendesitas earlier this afternoon. We went there together with mommy Stef along with ate Keanna & ate Jhaz. The place was jam-packed with different kids wearing their cutest, scariest and most unique halloween costumes. There was a program that includes games, raffles and stage performers. And there was also the most awaited best in costume awarding ceremony. Oh well, di ko na kinarir pagsali sa mga contest na ganyan. We went there for Sam to enjoy the day and the treats and not to compete. I was able to meet some online moms and their kiddos too from GT, SP and from our multiply community. Sam really enjoyed the trick or treat part seeing her pumpkin loot started to fill up with different sweets and goodies. She really enjoyed the company of her ates...Keanna & Jhaz...and I'm really thankful to these girls for taking care of her while mommy was busy taking some snaps. And to Stef who was still lacks a lot of sleep but still managed to join us....sleep ka na mare ha?...hehe :p And to those who didn't make it...I'm really really hoping to see you again guys...soon! :p

Instead of celebrating the United Nation week in Sam's school, we the parents and the teachers agreed to have a Halloween Party instead. The kids just finished their 2nd grading periodical exam yesterday and the party was the best treat for our little examinees We were just asked to bring food share and goodies for our little Trick or Treaters. Sam wore this cute Lady Bug costume i purchased that was on sale. She was really excited and really had a great time on the party. Another big day tomorrow awaits for her. Sam meets Sanrio & Friends

I wasn't able to bring Sam yesterday morning for the go-see screening of Candy Stripes fashion show. Something more important came up with that I need to prioritize first. I need to meet a balikbayan friend of my mom whom she asked for a favor to hand me her padala. So After the meet-ups, and since we can no longer make it to the screening all the way to paranaque pa, we just attend this event at The Block of SM north. It's the Meet Sanrio and Friends experience that each girl really loves to be part of. Everybody is welcome and can join. You just need to purchase something to accumulate a ticket in exchange for a free face/hand painting, nail salon treat, hair and make-up salon treat, origami and a photo ops. There's a small area where you can buy hello kitty stuff. Of course Sam was really excited and can't decide what she wants me to buy for her. She just picked this little fishing toy and I just got a little hello kitty purse in addition. She really loves all the booth especially the nail and make-up salon!...haha At this young age, they already appreciate these things...haha! hays..kikay talaga! :p

The only downside of theis event was the no-show of the actual Sanrio & Friends mascots. They're just having these huge standees that represents the characters. And mind you guys...they are very strict not to touch them, baka madumihan daw...my goodness! Itumba ko pa yan eh...haha! This event I think is only today na lang. Better call the SM Admin if you wish to drop by to treat your kiddos. :p

Just want to share these cute pics of Sam. Actually, it's just an experimental shots. I was just trying some of my satin curtains to use as backdrop sana then get some shots if it will look ok. All of a sudden, Sam thought that we'll going to have a shoot again. She immediately grab her santa headband...thinking that it's a christmas shoot maybe because of the red backdrop...then stood in front of me...btw, I still don't have the cam that time yet... then mega pose na sya...haha! She's really waiting for me to get the cam because she's really not moving and posing still...lol! I don't want naman to spoil her mood and she really looked pretty in her pose kaya I took some shots na din. Too bad because I wasn't able to get a good setting kaya yan..medyo blurry. Just wearing her usual pambahay...i didn't noticed that her pants was baligtad pala!..as you can see, nakalabas pa yung tag!..ayayay!...hahaha :p

From the makers of the LeapPad and the Leapster comes a new reading system called the TAG READING SYSTEM. This nifty new electronic reader is contained inside a pen-like device which children hold over books that have been printed on special dot-matrix paper. By tapping on a page of the book, the Tag can read the whole page, a word, a phrase, or respond to images on the page. The Tag reader is six inches long and uses two AAA batteries to run. It houses a computer processor, a stereo audio system, and a small infrared camera on the end of the device. By quickly photographing the dots on a page, the Tag can determine where it is on the page and then read to your child. The Tag reader can hold the audio content of up to five books at a time, and you can interchange which books are in its memory by connecting to the Internet. The Tag Reading System comes with one book: Ozzie and Mack by Trish Holland, but additional books are available also. It's already available here in the Philippines particularly at Toys R Us. Very cheap only...P2999k for the whole kit!...arrrgh!..lol!

At launch, the Tag Reading System has 16 books, two activity boards, and two card sets that work with the Tag reader. Parents can choose which classic and/or activity storybooks they want to add to their child's library by purchasing them and then connecting the Tag to the Internet to download the audio content for free. The Tag Library! Contains 20 books and it's still growing!

This was the last time we went to attend a friend's birthday party. After Banky's party , we headed to Trinoma with mommy Stef together with the kids. I need to buy something for Sam and Stef will be having a medical checkup with her OB. We separated at the mall already. Sam saw the carousel at the 3rd floor and immediately requested to have a one round of joyful ride...hehe! She really loves the carousel and since it's still early, i granted her small wish. I forgot that it was Sunday pala because when we got to the 3rd floor, the Timezone was jam-packed with kids of all ages. My goodness... it's family day nga pala. We usually goes out kasi during the weekdeays only to avoid the mall crowd. The ticket booth has a long-line wait but still able to managed to get Sam her carousel ticket. She patiently waited for our turn. She's very happy when it's our turn already..haha! Hays, kaligayahan nga nman ng bata...it's super babaw! I'm happy that I made her happy again.

After our horsey ride, I decided to have a small shoot again with my little model. Grabbed the ops because the weather was good plus I have the camera. I seldomly bring it kasi whenever we go out. Good thing that Sam has still some enrgy to pose for mommy...hehe! I just treated her with some pieces of her favorite Krispy Kreme daughnut after. During our way home, she's already knock-down. What a tiring yet fun day again for both of us.

I brought Sam to her pedia just this afternoon for her shot schedule at Healthway clinic, 5th level of The Block in SM north. Her schedule was supposed to be last May pa kaya its'a kinda late na. Good thing that after this Hepa A shot...yearly na ang balik namin because she was able na to complete her vaccination shots already...not to mention the cost of each shot!...my goodness!..hindi sya mura!..lol! Oh well, no amount is equivalent for our kids health kaya ok lang.

So after the visit, I just brought Sam to Toy Kingdom to satisfy her eyes and to forgot the pain from the shot. I just bought her something that she likes and a cute halloween costume. BTW, the store is jampacked with varieties of cute and very nice halloween costumes for your kiddos so better shop early. The availability of some items are very limited daw kaya mabilis magkaubusan. Even the Bumblebee & Company is already selling retail costumes inside the store. And daming magaganda...promise! I was able to checked out also these exciting halloween mall events to share with you. All these events will be sched on the 31st of October so it's up to you of which event you'll be bringing your kids. Kung pwedeng nga sanang lahat eh ...why not?...haha! :)

Since Sam did very well in school for the first grading period, I told her dad about my plans of giving her a small token or reward from being one of the top noodles in her class. Ever since she started to get familiar with computer, she always seat on my lap and watched me while working on something. She's really amazed with the keyboard and sometimes I let her play with it. But until now, she still haveing a hard time to control the mouse. She started to get fascinated na with laptops whenever we're at the mall, requesting to drop by at the toy kingdom or toys r' us just to see these items. She always check and plays with diffrent educational laptops on display and telling me she like to have one of it. As we all know, the costs of these laptops is a bit expensive. I just told her that we don't have money yet and we'll return back na lang next time we visit the store again. Her 1st grading report card made me decide to get her one na. I'm choosing between the Leapfrog items and vtech, and I really had this sudden confusion of what to buy for her. I'm always into Leapfrog because of its excellent background when it comes to learning system... the cons about it is the design...they have a very limited choices when it comes to laptop designs. The Philippines bagged grand prize in Disney Channel’s “High School Musical: My School Rocks 2008 Inter-School Dance Competition” besting other Asian countries!

The all-girl team, high school students from Holy Sprit School who call their group Janssen Knights, arrived from their victory in Hong Kong Disneyland. The talented group is composed of Jessica Meñez, Czarina Jose, Krizia Duka, Lyza Torsiende, and Julia Mella. They made it to the final four as kids across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong watched the videos and cast their votes to decide who from the 20 semi-finalists from across the region will join the dance competition that draws inspiration from the sensational hit Disney Channel franchise.

Nearly 29,000 votes from 11 markets were cast in a span of a week with teams from Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore also making the final four. They had 6 weeks to prepare, choreograph and rehearse a dance number to a medley of songs from both “High School Musical” and “High School Musical 2”.

The winning team, who has definitely brought the Philippines recognition in the arts, was awarded a money-can’t-buy, once-in-a-lifetime experience to perform live with professional Casts in one of the latest park attractions at Hong Kong Disneyland, High School Musical: LIVE! Sam & i were at Trinoma last Sunday, just need to buy something in the mall. I didn't know that there's this Pampers on going event at the activity center. And i thought that it's only for parents with babies. They are accepting all kids for registration to join the said event. So i decided to register and join the fun inside with sam. She really enjoyed the colorful rooms with these giant furnitures. We were able to get some freebies as well from the different sponsors. Rj & Giselle hosted the mini show. Conduct some raffle and discussed some parenting tips for all the parents. Sam enjoyed these giant furnitures and really climbed high just to seat on the top...with my help of course. She also enjoyed watching the elephant mascot dancing on the stage. Sadly, I wasn't able to have her a decent pic beside it...what's the name of this mascot anyway?...i have no idea!..ahaha

top 4 in her nursery class for the 1st grading period

Sam had their First Grading Awarding Ceremony held at their school last Sept. 19, Friday @ 7:30am. I just put her into bed prior the big day, earlier than her usual sleeping time. Woke up @ 6am and prepared all the things needed. They don't have the classes na that day but the students from all level were asked to attend the said program. The nursery were the first in line to receive the certificate of awards. Though she's not the top 1, I am very proud to say that she's the 4th placer in their class. The feeling is really overwhelming seeing your kid going up in the stage and accepting her very first school award... hays, para ka na rin nanalo ng lotto. :)

I admit that I'm a bit strict with regards to Sam's studying routine. But I'm not particular with the time...in fact I let her watch the tv first before doing her homework if she wants to. For me kasi, I'll just follow her frame of mind. I can't force her to study if she don't feel studying. Sayang lang yung effort on both sides and for sure she'll learn nothing because she don't want to focus. But this happens very seldom. Most of the time, she's doing her assignment right after her class. Pagkading sa house, she's looking agad for her homeworks. I always let her do her homework by herself... I'm just at her side to teach her, give an example and guide her. And I'm really glad that my effort produced her of being included in the top 5 of her class. I'm really proud of my little girl!

a note from her Reminder Notebook

I've been waiting fo the release of Sam's report card ever since after she took her first grading examinations. I already talked to her teacher and she told me it's already done and the release will be this Friday. As a first time mom, I'm really concerend how she did in her academics. With regards to her exams, she did very well naman with less mistakes in all her subjects. The two got almost perfect with just one mistake. I'm kinda confident naman that she'll get an acceptable overall grade but still need to wait for the report card.

Until today after I picked her up from her class, it's already a routine for me to check her things. From her pencils to the number of her crayons, yes!... i'll make sure to check those because sometimes, she's loosing a piece or two. And each of her crayons and the rest of her school stuff has name on it!...haha It's very expensive if you'll buy another set to think one piece lang ang nawawala diba? Anyways, I also check if she has assignments. And upon checking her Reminder notebook, I was really surprised to read what's inside. Sam made it to the Top 5 Outstanding Pupils!...Yey!!! I still don't know about her place but then, I'm really really proud of her. I'm not expecting that she got the top 1 nor the top 2 since two of her classmates were supposed to be in kinder 1... based on their academic capabilities and age bracket which are both 5 y/o already. It was a concern for us, the parents of 3-4 y/o students before because the parents of these two students refused to jump their kids to kinder 1... Imagine that? If i'll be the parents of these kids, I'll be more proud because my kid will be accelerated... Hays!

Anyways, I'm again very thankful that Sam did very well and made it to be somewhat level with them. They'll be having an awarding ceremony this friday at 7:30am...goodluck sa pag gising ko kay Sam...hehe! :p From another proud mommy here...

I noticed that Sam's finger nails grows rapidly in just a matter of few days. So one morning, i decided to trim them before she gets to school because she might scratch herself or someone from her class na during their playtime.

Moi: "Sam, let's cut na your finger nails because it's long na...can you get the nailcutter inside your pink drawer please?" ...she knows where we keep her things and her other stuff, teaching her how to be organize at an early age.

Sam: "ok mommy" ...with naughty smile..lol!

Moi: "Thank You sweetie!" and she said "You're welcome!" ..practicing the proper and polite way as what they are being taught in school..

Sam: "mommy, why cut the nails?"

Moi: "because it's long na"

Sam: "why it's long na?"

Moi: "because it's growing honey?"

Sam: "why it's growing?"

Moi: "because you're a growing baby" ...need to change na the topic or else this endless questions of her will not stop!...haha! "look at your finger nails....how many are they?"

Sam: ..she counts "1, 2, 3, 4, 5! five finger nails!"

Moi: "Very good honey!" ...then I asked her to count the nails on her other hand...and she also correctly count them. Then i told her "the nails on your hands are called Finger nails and the nails in your feet are called Toe nails!" She's listening but saw this bewilder expression in her face... she started to look at her foot and seriously count 'em...

Sam: ..."1, 2, 3, 4, 5! It's five nails mommy, not two nails!..look...1, 2, 3, 4, 5!....Five nails!"

Moi: ..then I said "...uh!"...bursting myself into laugh!...haha! My goodness, she's right nga naman, it's 5 and not 2...she got baffled with the word "Toe" to "Two" ...kaya yan, she made me correct tuloy!...haha :p

I didn't bring any cam because I thought that they will have it inside the classroom...which parents are not allowed to go inside anymore. We don't have any idea that the shoot will going to be on school's gymnasium on the 2nd floor of the building...arrgh! I noticed that most of the KT photoshoot albums in my multiply account was automatically uploaded with a Fun Ranch album as well..hehe Well, here's our album (sorry, viewable by my multiply contacts only) version modeled by who else...my little still hyperacitve Sammie girl. Who can ever resist to take a peek for a while to this very nice and kid friendly complex for the whole family. The place now have some more additional rides to enjoy. This was our 3rd time already, but as compared from our last 2 visits... Sam & I just roamed around and took some shots. The place during that time gave me an impression of it like a ghost town because there was no one else inside the park but us and the employees...hehe! Though the park is already open, this was past 12 noon only so expect that there's no guests yet to occupy the place. Sam still wanted to make hirit to play inside the Active Fun. Since I'm already hungry and exhausted, i told her that we can back there some other time. She smiled and said "ok mommy...next time na lang ok?" Im really happy and proud of her because she didn't insist her request. I guess she realizes that it will be boring since there's no other kids inside, and she understand that mommy's tired already :) After our small photshoot, we headed to SM north to get a full meal then went back straight home after. Hays, what a day! :)

Finally, the most awaited day of the first day group photoshoot of Kidstime little models has been arrived. The photoshoot for the Stella's Clothing Line group went off smoothly. I think some of them didn't make it. As far as i know, the headcount should be 12 for the Stella's, but they were just 9 of them during the shoot. The girls wore these dolly-like satin colorful dress from the said clothing company for the formal wear shot. Sam really like the dress and refuses to remove it after the set...haha! Everybody poses their sweetest smile in front of the cam. Even the youngest in the group did very well. The studio was jam-packed with these kids and the ever excited stagemoms. You can really hear the woos and coos of the mommies even outside the studio!...haha...ang ingay! :p I hope that daddy Chris didn't get annoyed with us, the ever so ingay stagemoms..hehe After the shoot, we were asked to wait outside for the meantime to giveway for the Polka tot's group.

The 2nd set was a bit more casual. They still wore these clothes from Stella's. Sam's wearing a red soft pants matching her tops. The others wore a casual dress that really looks so comfortable. Everybody had a great time. Noisy mommies on the loose again!..haha

It was also nice to finally meet in flesh our ever dearest "Contest Queen", Mommy Ro!..haha Though Mommy Kat & I already bumped to each other once during the Trinoma exhibit...I'm really happy to meet you again and had this little chikahan. I also met some GT moms from the forum and group. Pardon me if I forgot the names...hehe! I'm not that active kasi sa forum. I usually visit the site just to get some news about the contests and mag winners...I'll try to be more active now to make connection with the other stagemoms.

After all your hardworking days and nights and the completion of your models, you made the first photoshoot a success. Though there are some misunderstanding about model categories, you were still able to work it out. I understand that sometimes you need to make a change and hope that some concerns have been fixed for the benefit of all. Good luck more sis for these coming two days of exciting photo shoots. More cutie kids, more crying..hehe...more noisy moms...and more precious moments to capture. :p

Some of the practice shots my hubby and I took from his last vacation. He's already a bit used with the cam setting and he was still teaching me. As usual, the set was modeled by our little Sam...hehe! Outdoor shots are really great since the light comes out naturally, no need to use the flash. As what each photograper's say...in Photography, make the Sun your best friend, not your enemy.But there are still a lot more things and rules to consider when photographing outdoors. Remember that in art and photography, rules are really just guidelines, and the best way to get better is to experiment. Knowledge is power! So keep shooting!

Some tips that may help us to produce better outdoor photos:

On a clear day, the sun can be your enemy. With the sun directly over head with no cloud cover you will get harsh shadows. This will occur just about everywhere but most significantly they will appear around the eyes of your subject creating what I call “raccoon eyes”. This happens because the brow bone above your eyes protrudes out to block the sun like a visor. Try taking your outdoor photographs closer to sunrise or sunset. Not only will it help you to eliminate “raccoon eyes” you will also get better color for your images.
Keep the sun behind you, preferably at a slight angle. By doing this you will be using the sun to light your subject and the slight angle will help shape the face in a more flattering fashion. If the sun is behind your subject you will be creating a silhouette, which is of course fine if that’s what your going for. Keeping the sun behind you will also help to eliminate “lens flare” which can ruin an otherwise great image, and it will help prevent squinting.
Clouds are your friends. Those white fluffy things floating above you act as a “diffuser”. This helps to spread the light around and create what’s called “soft lighting”. It’s much more flattering than “hard light” any day. Think of it as a giant soft box for the sun.
Don’t forget your flash! You can use your flash outdoors with great effect to help eliminate shadows and better light your subject. You will want to set your flash at 1/4 or 1/2 power. Consult your manual on how to do this for your specific flash. This makes your flash a “fill” flash instead of the main light. You should still have the sun behind you at an angle for the flattering light.

Kumon Workbooks for my Sam

I already got some Kumon workbooks for Sam. Thanks to Mommy Tin of Vien for posting a blog about these workbooks. I'm really interested about the Kumon programs ever since I heard about it. I'm just not aware that workbooks are available for the home school tutorials at our leading bookstores already. I've planned to use the EGC that I won from the Mom & I portrait at Trinoma photo competition to purchase these books. Unfortunately, the NBS in Trinoma is not yet accepting this electronic gift check. I also inquired about the Powerbooks store, and yes...they are already accepting this card! But unfortunately again...huhu..when I called the store, the workbooks were already sold out. Still don't know when would be their next delivery, the stock kasi is based on the availability of the books abroad and they really can't assure me of when they can have the books again...arrgh!

The very eager mom has no choice but to purchase the books in cash...ouch!..haha! Well, anything for Sam that is educational and will surely benefit her will not become an issue for me, as long of course that I have the budget. Telling it to her dad will just follow...hehe :p

Now, Sam is really enjoying her new set of workbooks! She can't get her eyes away from these books!...She's really enjoying each activities. Well maybe because of the colorful pages of the books compare from her b&w pages school workbooks. She loves to trace the letters, color the blank spot of the animals, connect the dots and the challenging mazes. We'll just do the Cutting workbook as her last activity. This skill needs a lot of supervision because scissors is already involved in each activities.:p

Another malling experience that almost resulted in tragedy, let's be informed and keep our children safe:

Dear All,

Most often our urgent prayers regarding our children are for their protection. It is hard to think about other aspects of their lives if we are worried sick over their personal safety. Having to raise my children on my own I had every reason to fear for their safety. So I pray for the Lord's protection on a daily basis. I pray for their protection from violence, molestation, kidnapping and accidents. "Hide them under the shadow of your wings, from the wicked who oppress them and from the deadly enemies who surround them."

Though my children have had their share of minor injuries including a couple that required an emergency room and stitches. Nothing ever happened to them that came close to being kidnapped, held against their will or even victims of a hold-up until my son Renzo was involved in one.

Monday afternoon, August 18 Renzo and 3 of his classmates were going to practice at our home. Their meeting place was Trinoma Mall at 1pm . Renzo was accompanied by his elder brother till the time that Renzo was with his classmates.

Renzo already with 2 classmates, Ram and Aaron waited for Richard 3rd classmate at Olympic Village 4th floor. While waiting they went thru soccer balls and boxing gloves. Soon after they received a text message from 3rd classmate Richard who was now waiting for them at Seattle's Best, 1st floor. They proceeding to meet Richard and as soon as they were complete they headed for our home but then a man approached them and identified himself as an employee of Olympic Village and even flashed an ID to the boys. The man informed them that they damaged an item and that they should follow him back to the store. The man narrated every move the boys made and true enough one of them accidentally dropped a soccer ball. Before leaving Seattle 's Best, Richard the last classmate to arrive was told to stay behind and wait for their return.

The man then brought the 3 boys to the 4th floor Cinema Area. Ram and Aaron were told to give Renzo all their belongings (3 cell phones including Renzo's, an IPOD, a PSP and 2 wallets) and were ordered by the man to go to the restroom to wash their hands before the investigation. The boys followed as ordered. When they returned Renzo and the man was no longer there. Fearing for Renzo's safety and their other friend they headed back to Seattle 's Best. Richard was still there but Renzo was no where to be found. All three went back to Olympic Village and informed them of the man who introduced himself as an employee and that Renzo was missing. They were brought to the Trinoma Security Office also at the 4th floor and reported the incident.

2:45pm at home, I received a phone call that every parent feared, "M'am, this is Ram, Renzo's classmate, M'am si Renzo po is missing. . . ." I couldn't believe what I was hearing I asked them where they were, what happened and who was this man they were talking about. I quickly headed to Trinoma to meet with them. I was scared, thoughts ran through my mind, all the what ifs and all I could think of was Renzo's safety. I called on the Lord, my dad and my mother-in-law to please keep my son safe. When I arrived at the Security office, my prayers were answered, there was Renzo, scared, pale, shaken-up and in-tears but most importantly safe and unharmed.

Having been convinced that they indeed damaged an item at Olympic Village, Renzo was told by this man that he is bringing him to the main office of Olympic Village. So they both walked all the way to West Avenue until they reached the building beside Caltex. The man told Renzo to stay outside the building and wait for his return. An hour had passed no sign of this man, Renzo approached the building security guard and asked if he had seen the man he was with enter their building and the guard said that no one entered their building at that time. Upon realizing what had just happened, Renzo hurriedly returned to Trinoma scared of thinking that the man might have returned for his friends and that something might have happened to them.

Little did Renzo know that from the time the Trinoma Security office was informed of the incident Renzo was already being paged constantly. The in-house detective of Trinoma decided to wait for Renzo at Seattle 's Best thinking that he would return there. True enough Renzo did return and upon seeing this scared boy the detective approached Renzo introduced himself and brought him safely to the Security Office.

Renzo and his classmate Ram was able to identify the man who was with them through the Security Camera of Olympic Village.. This man was following them from the time they entered Olympic Village up to the time they went to Seattle's Best. He watched every move they made and made sure that the boys had no accompanying adults with them.

As soon as Olympic Village releases the picture of this man to us I will post it and make known to everyone the identity of this man who momentarily created fear in our lives.

Angry? Yes I am angry; I want to knock-off this man should I see him. I am angry at myself for trusting my son will be safe on his own. I am disappointed that after all the serious talks I've had with my son on not talking to strangers still he did not obey. As a parent no matter how much you want to protect your children, no matter how tight we pull the strings on them, our children will still continue to experience pain and still be careless at times.

The good news though was that my son, our sons, were spared and for that I am grateful to the Lord. I know I will have this constant fear over their personal safety; we can't be everywhere, we can't see everything, we can't know everything but the Lord can and sure enough my prayers were answered.

Please pass this on to everyone you know who has teenage children daring to explore on their own. Never mind if they get angry for not being allowed to be on their own but at least you are sparing them from this trauma. Also please do not allow your children to bring gadgets outside of their home as these serve as baits for hold-up.

She really like this cheer leading costume that my parents sent from the states last year. She just asked me to buy her a pair of pompoms to complete the outfit. She was so amazed while the cheerleaders dances and produces amazing stunts....gusto pa nga sanang tumambling tumbling....haha! This week was a bit busy for Sammy’s school routine. 3 of her dear classmates celebrated their birthdays in school, excluding ate Keanna’s 6th birthday party. One celebrated on the 22nd, the other was on the 23rd, and lastly was today. Since its Sam’s 1st time in school, I didn’t know that the students can actually spend their birthdays at school. Just need to coordinate with their teachers to allot some time for the celebration. The kids enjoyed the balloons and loot bags rather than the food ...haha! They sang happy birthday to each of the celebrant. Now, I’m thinking if I’m going to spend Sam's 4th birthday in school as well by January of next year...hmmm :p

In celebration of my __th birthday...hehe, I just treat Sam & my brother out. We just went out on the 7th of July since my brother is on duty on the 6th. We headed off to The Block of SM North after Sam's school and treat them out with a sumptuous lunch. After dining in, I decided to give my Sam her very first movie house experience. Good thing that Kung-Fu Panda is still showing. Before entering the movie house, I told Sam that "we are going to watch in a very very big tv, and it's really dark inside...but don't worry because mommy & tinong are going to take care of you, so don't worry and behave ok?...no talking and no screaming inside the cinema ok?" And she did! She enjoyed her very first movie date! She's so fond of the Furious Five especially the fat lead star Po. Though hubby was not here...as usual!...heheI I still did enjoy my special day though we just celebrate it in a simple way. :p

Ako ay natutuwa na makita ang kanyang pagunlad sa kanyang mga bagong natututunan. Here's my 5th entry to our "Litratong Pinoy" group for this week's theme "Luntian" or Green color. This is a shot of my daughter's work while she's coloring one of her Kumon's pre-K workbooks. At age 3.5, this little girl really enjoys coloring this corcodile with her green crayon. I'm happy to see that she's improving in terms of her new learned skill. She's really trying hard now not to color outside the borders as compared from her works before when she was just starting. :p

This was the time that the fashion show for the Caravan of Fun was canceled due to sudden pour of heavy rain on the first day of the said event. The event was on it's peak when suddenly a thick bundle of heavy clouds religiously covered the blue sunny skies. Unexpectedly and without any warning, super heavy rain immediately poured leaving the venue and the people super soaked wet! Due to this unexpected weather condition, mommy Joan of Kidsahoy had no choice but to discontinue the said event and just re-sched the fashion show the next day. Everything were soaked wet including the wirings and outlets for the sound system...that will surely pose a great danger to everybody if they'll still continue the event and the show. Though the rain already stopped, hubby and I decided to take a short trip inside the mall. We're both starving and decided to have some snacks. After we ate, Sam saw this indoor playground within the activity center of the mall and immediately requested if she can play there together with the other kids. We let her played and explored the playground. As you can see, she really had a great time...playing, climbing and sliding in barefoot!...gosh!...haha! As if, then lang ulit nakapaglaro! After she got exhausted, daddy bought an ice cream for her to enjoy. Hehe...just need to capture the moment of her making mess with her cold treat...hehe, simply cute! At nakiki-share pa si daddy nya...haha! :p

Ito ay kuha ng dalawang "Stilt Walkers" na nakita namin minsang nagtungo kami sa Mall Of Asia. Napakagaling ng mga taong ito at dapat lamang na ipagmalaki nila ang kanilang trabaho. Dahil sa totoo lang, hindi biro ang pagtayo sa dalawang balingkinitang bakal ng ilang oras para lang makapag-bigay saya sa mga tao. Sila din ay lumalakad lakad sa paligid, minsan naman ay tumatakbo ng hindi nabubuwal!...Ang galing! :p

This is a shot of the two Stilt Walkers that we saw one time we went to Mall of Asia. These entertainers are really awesome and should be proud of their job. "I think this is the best title that fits my photo entry. As what you can see, she actually said "wow!" when she saw what I got her for her lunch one time we went out for a Jollibee treat. She can't believe her eyes that it's all for her! I, myself is really a Jollibee lover ever since. I even worked as a part-time crew way back in my college years to experience how it feels to become a part of this fast growing fast food chain in the Philippines. Earthquake prediction is a Hoax!

The predicitions that being circulated in emails, texts and blogs (including my blog) about the earthquake prediction on July 18, 2008 is totally a bogus! I was finally relieved when ABS-CBN's TV Patrol already aired their investigation about this 47-year-old Brazilian teacher, Juseleeno Nobulega Daroose and his prophesy of the said 8.1 magnitude earthquake that will rock the Philippines. It was told that he just wrote these bogus predictions to earn popularity and to increase the traffic on his blog! Imagine that?...He's a sick man!!! We’re supposed to know it as a fact, and we’ve learned it in school that no one, not even the best seismologist, can predict when and where an earthquake will strike, as well as its exact magnitude. And yet, even the supposedly well-informed get rattled when they receive e-mails or text messages that an earthquake will strike a certain area, on a certain day and at an exact time.

To assuage public fear and panic, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) was forced to issue a statement declaring the text message and emails a hoax.

News from ABS-CBN News:
The Brazilian clairvoyant foresees a tragic event hitting the Philippines on July 18, 2008: an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.1, causing widespread deaths and destruction. His alleged prophesy has been posted and reposted in various blogs, inviting discussions about its authenticity.

For PHIVOLCS Director Renato Solidum Jr., however, a person who receives such a message should ask, "Does this person exist?"

"They have to verify if that person exists and check whatever statement made supposedly by that person… You have to know the veracity of that e-mail," Solidum told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

Solidum said many Filipinos tend to be alarmed when receiving e-mails or text messages warning of a supposedly imminent quake because they put more weight on prophesies than scientific analyses.

He acknowledged that much still needs to be done in educating the public about earthquakes.

Solidum cautioned the public against spreading wrong information to other people. He reminded the public that not all things written on the web or sent through text messages are true.

He reiterated that scientists still cannot predict when an earthquake will strike.

"What we need to do is make sure that we always send the message that the reality is, this is how far science has gone: nobody can predict an earthquake as to the exact magnitude, time and actual date," Solidum said.

What seismologists can only do, for now, is estimate the magnitude of an earthquake coming from a certain fault. For the Marikina fault line, for instance, seismologists have raised the possibility of a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, in case it moves.

"It’s an estimate of the maximum credible earthquake that that fault can move. As to when it will exactly move, no one knows. It can be small and it can be big. You have to prepare for the big ones," he said.

Earthquakes can happen anytime, especially in earthquake-prone countries such as the Philippines. Filipinos must know what to do before, during and after an earthquake.
"Of course, strong earthquakes will happen, so we need to prepare. In fact, there were strong earthquakes that happened in the past, including a magnitude of 8.3, so that is not unusual," he said. Solidum said the country must ensure that its houses, schools, hospitals and other infrastructures can withstand tremors, and its people must be educated about safety measures. He advised the public not to panic. There should also be a continuous effort to educate the youth about earthquake preparedness, especially those who have not experienced a strong earthquake. Solidum said the country is not yet 100 per cent ready, but "we’re better prepared than before."

I Just grabbed this from one of my Multiply buddies. Though I don't want to believed about these predictions, I'm still a bit worried and prayed that It wont happen. I'm really terrified while I'm reading it. Hope it's not true and It's just a warning, but there's nothing to lose if you read this and share with your friends and love ones. Uncanny Prophesy: What will happen to the world and to the Philippines at 2008

He said all the prophesy dreams were automatically in his dream. When Mr. Juseleeno was 19 years old, he met the famous Brazilian prophesy Saint Mr. Franciscoshabiz, after that the worldwide disaster events were increased in his prophesy dream. Mr. Franciscoshabiz was two times the candidate for the Nobel Prize, he is a very famous differential functional person, at the same time he is also the Charitarian. The events which Mr. Juseleeno predicted are already more than 80000, firstly let’s look at below a few big worldwide events and huge disaster from his prophesy.

Princess Diana was assassinated;

Mr. Juseleeno sent a warning letter to Diana via post office on 4th March,1997. I got the message from the God that someone is planning to kill you in the car accident, your life will be dangerous, 7 angels told me about this. You may die in this car accident and the specialist may close this case as a driving mistake, but they are totally wrong. The murder is close to you. And it will happen before 2000.

Juseleeno also send this warning letter to the time, Darlytelegraph and Guardian etc. new agents in England , but never published. The car accident was happened on 31st August,1997, 5 month after the warning letter was sent out. Just as the prophesy said that the case was closed as driving mistake. The accuracy of this prophesy is not only to predict the huge event but also the truth of the intrigue behind the event. There are a lot of rumors after the accident, Diana was killed by the England royal family centered by queen Elizabeth.

The prophesy said it will happen before 2000, though there isnt exact date on, but this prophesy was sent to the president (FernandoHenriqueSilvaCardoso) of Brazil 2 years before the accident and mentioned about from 1997 to 98 that Diana will die etc.

The second attack of World Trade Center , it is 911

Jeseleeno sent the warning letter to the president of USA in 1989, the warning letter had also published at a notarization office which run by Mr. Klicheeba in the town of Palana . This warning letter also predicted that the World Trade Center will get the first attack in 1993, though there was no exact date on but the second attack was clearly told 11th September,2001. Everyone knew the result, the first attack was happened on 26th Feb.1993 three and half year after the warning letter sent out, the parking place was blow up and many people injured, the second attack was happened on 11th Sept.2001, 13 years after the warning letter sent out, it is the 911.

The exclamatory thing is, this prophesy also told about Afghanistan and Iraq war will start after 911, after Iraq lost, the president Haisan will run to Adawr the middle of Iraq etc. are all in the letter, like you all know, the events in the prediction letter were happened one by one.

Sumatra Indonesia earthquake

Juseleeno sent the warning letter about Indonesia Sumatra Earthquake to the India Embassy on 16th September, 1996, about 8 years before the disaster. This warning letter predicted that there will be 8.9 earthquake in Aceh Indonesia in the morning of 26th December,2004. India and Indonesia will be attacked by the tsunami. He sent the warning letter to the president of Indonesia on 30th April, 1997, the letter is about. I dreamed that 7:00am 26th Dec, 2004, South Asia will be attacked by 8.9 earthquake, at the same time will get the tsunami, the area will be Aceh Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Maladiv, Bombay. And many people will be dead.

The result is- the earthquake was happened at 07:58am 26th Dec. More than 200000 people dead, the biggest tsunami was about 30 meters, a lot people were dead by the tsunami. He also sent the same letter to Indonesia , Philippine, Thailand and other Embassies. He also got the thanks letter from these countries.

The thanks letter from Meigawadi said about the 2004 earthquake and tsunami, to prevent the disaster, we must do a lot of things, but in another hand, we can do nothing. The thanks letter from Indonesia Embassy said..we will send this letter to our government, if you have any update information, please let us know.

From above information, Juseleeno already predicted that there will be more than 200000 people die in the tsunami and earthquake 8 years before the disaster, he sent the warning letter with detail date on to these countries, but nobody did any preventive measures.

The writer pick up a few events which Juseleeno predicted for the future.

2007

Tornado attacked Brazil , thousands people dead.

2007 or July of 2008 Japan will get earthquake and get 30 meters tsunami.

Japan will get earthquake and typhoon in October, He predicted that the huge typhoon will happen on 26th October in the warning Letter

25th January. 8.9 earthquake will attacked Japan , Hundred thousands people will die.

November, Japan will get earthquake again. Thousands people will die.

The temperature in Africa will reach 58 degrees, it is unbelievable number, but in May 2007, people who travel around Africa said the temperature in Greece and Turkey are already 39-40 degrees, Iraq and Arabia is about 45-46 degrees, it is possible to happen in the summer but not in may, we can imagine that in the summer of 2010, the world will become warmer and Africa will get the high temperature.

Mr.Juseleeno predicted that when the cats and dogs know the disaster is coming, they want to get away from the venue, they will have strange behaviors 24 hours before the disaster, so we can use that for the standard of judgement.

The small planet will be closer to the earth and may knock together, the exist of this small planet will influent the issue of human live.

In November, the average temperature will reach 59 degrees, many people will die, the world confusion will be bigger.

In the middle of April, huge typhoon will attach some cities of China , about one thousand people will die.

The world population reduced, about 80% people dead in the disaster.
Will 2008 Beijing Olympic Game be held smoothly?

As above said, in 2008, China will get 9.1 earthquake and more than millions people will die, according to Mr. Juseleeno’s prediction that the earth quake will be 13th September,2008, and Olympic will hold on 8th August-24th, In this schedule, the earthquake will happen after Olympic, but before the big earthquake, there will be a lot of small earthquake, it will make the country and people upset.

There will be a lot of small earthquake before the big one, although Juseleeno didnt predict the exact date, but if we presume the small earthquake will happen one or two month before and it may be the period of Olympic, if so it may make the host and athletes give up. When the writer read this prophesy from Juseleeno, he suddenly remember the space time traveler John Titoer’s last word, 2004 Athens Olympic Game will be last one

But, if the earthquake is in the south of China , Nanning and Hai Nan, and there are no Olympic games, the Beijing Olympic Game will close successfully. But the problem is that China government is only care about the reputation and successfully of the Olympic game, ignore the small earthquakes, and no preparation before the big one. China may control the report, closed all the news . If so there will be a big disaster as the prophesy said. In Mr. Juseleenos warning letter said if there is no preparation to protect the citizens, will get huge loss

Mr. Juseleeno also predicted that glacier period is coming.

He also has the right prophesy for the weather, one of them is, in 2003, Europe got high temperature, 29th October, 2001, the warning letter said the nature world will beat back to the world, the temperature of France, Germany and Portugal will become higher, more than ten thousand people will die, this disaster will happen between 2003 and 2004. the truth is, the temperature in the summer of 2003 had reached the highest one which they’ve never had in Europe, about 35.000 people dead, especially France and Germany , about 14,000 people dead in France and 7000 people dead in Germany .

From Mr.Juseleeno’s prophesy, the earth temperature will get higher every year, till 2012, the temperature in Africa will reach 58 degrees and the same time will have serious water problem, after the temperature will be even higher, till 2015, the average temperature of earth will reach 59 degrees, a lot of people will die, the human will get frighten all over the world. If this is the truth, the countries will against each other because of the aridity and not enough food, Mr. Jeseleeno also predicted that there will be some new wars because of the aridity, but he didnt have clear prophesy, but he felt it wont be the normal war.

Anyway, the temperature is getting higher is not like the aerography said ( the speed is very slow), actually very quick. However the warmness seems not always incessancy, after the high temperature, a big part of ice of Greenland and South Pole will be dissolved and go to the sea, the circulation of the sea will be lower and become colder, it means a new glacier time. In Juseleenos prophesy seems also said after 2027, there will be a new glacier. Details of the prophesy as below:

The break out of the volcano is not only in Yellow park, but also some other place in the world. these smoke will blot out the sun, the circulation of see will stagnate and active the cold phenomena.

There are not much time for Human, from December 2007, the Black Cloud will extend all over the world, as Mr. Juseleeno predicted that if the human still keep the actuality, human will have terrible life from 2008 till 2012 , the black cloud will full of the sky before the disaster. If we want the disaster, and war stay away from us, the deadline for human is the end of 2007. Mr. Juseleeno expected the world consciousness will change in the end of 2007.

The situation is very serious now, if we still want to depend on others power, Mr. Juseleeno’s prophesy the black future will happen. We must understand the serious situation, individual to individual, group to group, country to county, hold you own responsibility, take action, because the deadline will come soon.

Inability and tiny ability is totally different, inability is no matter whatever we do, it wont help. But tiny ability mean more people contribute and the power will become strong. We have do start from ourselves, one people’s power is small but if we put everyones power together, It will be strong to change the future disaster.

Let us PRAY that none of those foreseen event would ever happen. Believe in God and you'll see his kindness.

Ako ay labis na nasisiyahan na makita ang aking anak na babae na nagugustuhan nya ang eskwelahan. Wala akong pagsisisi na ipinadala ko agad sya sa eskwelahan sa murang edad, sya ay tatlo't limang buwan na taong gulang pa lamang. Ang aking munting intensyon ay upang matutunan nya kung paano makipaghalubilo. Ang pag-aaral kung paano magbasa at magsulat ay dadating din. Si Sam ay ang nagiisang bata sa aming tahanan at wala syang ibang kalaro na pwedeng makipaglaro. Sa eskwelahan, makakgawa sya ng mga bagong kaibigan at matututunang makipaghalubilo sa ibang bata na kapareho ng kanyang edad. Noong una, akala ko na puros paglalaro lang dahil ang edad ng mga "nursery" ay nahuhulog sa eded na pagitan sa tatlo hanggang apat na taon. Hindi ko naisip na ang pag-aaral kung paano magbasa at magsulat ay kaagad na parte na ng kanilang kurikulum. Sya ay may limang aklat, mayroong arawang gawaing aklat at dagdag na gawaing pambahay. Hala!...ang mga bata sa henerasyong ito ay nagiging masyado ng nauuna. Isa pa sa nakakpagpasaya sa akin ay ang makita na sya ay may nagagawang maganda sa kanyang klase. Palagi syang merong mga tatak ng "Very Good" at "Behave" sa kanyang mga kamay tuwing matatapos ang kanyang klase. :)

I am very happy to see that my daughter is really enjoying the school. I don't have any regrets that I send her at an early age, she's only 3.5 years old. My only intention was to improve more her socialization skills. Learning how to read and write will surely come at a latter part. Sam is the only kid in the house and doesn't have any playmates to play with. In school, she can make new friends and will learn how to interact with other kids of her age. At first, I thought that it's only more on the playing part since the age bracket of nursery falls between 3-4 y/o. I didn't realized that learning how to read and write is already part of their curriculum. She has 5 books, having their daily workbook activities plus homeworks. Oh my...the kids in this generation is getting more advance. What makes me more happier is to see that she's doing very well in her class. She always have these Very Good Star and Behave stamp on each of her hands every after class. :)

Sam Rocks with Hannah Montana

We were able to watch the "The Hannah Montana /Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds 3D Concert" @ disney channel last June 21. Sam starting to like Hannah after she watched her concert. She really likes the songs and even imitates her move while watching it. A few weeks later while strolling at The Block of Trinoma mall, there's an event about Hannah Montana. They're promoting the said concert and selling different Hannah Montana merchandise as well. I think there was also this application/audition booth for the Hannah Montana singing contest? I'm not sure because I wasn't that interested at all. All I can remember was that the contest is open for little girls ages 6 & up I think. The people from the said event was giving some 3D eyeglasses for the by passers inside the mall. We've got 3 pairs. They remind us to watch for the said Hannah Montana 3d concert on June 21 @ Disney Channel. And we did! i think It is much better to watch it in a big screen tv, mas realslisric for sure and 3d effect. :p

Typhoon FRANK (International Codename: Fengsen) caused vast damages to lives, properties and livelihood of our follow countrymen over the weekend. As of the latest report, the number of casualties has been increasing. Damages were greatly felt in some regions where the actual path of the typhoon crossed. Almost all of the province of Iloilo is submerged in water. People are still stranded on top of the roofs of their houses for two days now in some towns of Iloilo. Other areas of the Visayas are also calling for aid.

General Information: As of 23 June 2008:

- 10,000 families (40,000 individuals) affected of 20 provinces, 10,000 families are in 275 evacuation centers and increasing.

- Under State of Calamity: Provinces of Iloilo, Capiz, Masbate. Cities of Iloilo, Roxas, Zamboanga (selected areas). Municipalities in Bulacan-Paombong and Marilao

- NDCC: Floods, storm surge and landslides mostly in the Visayas and Southern Tagalog have affected 366,444 people. Of the total number of affected people, 182,686 were in the Western Visayas, including 155,005 in Antique province alone.

- Stranded 5,095 passengers, 288 rolling cargo, 90 trucks, 59 passenger buses, 48 small vehicles, and eight sea vessels.

Our contacts in the Philippine Air Force are willing to fly even round-the-clock relief operations for Typhoon Frank's victims but unfortunately they tell us there are no relief goods to airlift. We are appealing for donations like ready-to-eat goods, water, clothing and/or cash/check for the victims of Typhoon Frank. Primary target of this initiatives are the heavily affected communities and areas not normally reached by relief operations. We intend to send the relief donations immediately for the urgent need of the victims.

Photography 101 : Know more about Exposure

Now, let's talk about Exposure...

EXPOSURE
When you combine the ISO setting, the aperture (or f/stop) setting and the correct shutter speed, you are putting together the pieces of the camera puzzle that create your exposure.

The Exposure is the image created by the light entering the camera and being recorded onto the film or digital sensor. To achieve correct exposure, you need to balance your ISO setting for the lighting situation you are in with the f/stop setting and shutter speed to allow for the correct amount of light to enter the camera.

Exposure is a tricky thing and whole books have been written on getting it correct and then intentionally messing it up for artistic purposes. Most modern cameras now come with some pretty nifty built in “cheats” to give you correct exposures. Most point and shoot cameras handle exposure automatically for you and do a very nice job. Bridge and SLR cameras will also do the heavy lifting for you by shooting in fully automatic modes. They also contain with what are referred to as “Creative Modes” that will adjust your aperture and shutter speeds for certain situations such as sporting events, portraits, landscapes, or night shooting.

Once you have moved beyond the fully automatic and creative mode shooting, bridge and SLR cameras also have a few more tricks to help you achieve your correct exposure (in combination, of course, with the ISO, f/stop, and shutter speed):

The first of these is the built in light meter. Metering is the process of gauging the light and dark areas of your image and correctly aligning the ISO, f/stop, and shutter speed to give you correct exposure. All bridge and SLR cameras give you the ability to change all three settings independently, but thankfully these cameras will also do all the metering math for you with their built in light meters.

Along with the light meter in your viewfinder, you’ll most likely also have several auto-focus points. On most bridge and SLR cameras, you will be able to see your auto-focus points when looking through your viewfinder and focusing on your object or image. These auto-focus points light up to indicate what the lens is focusing on. You can also manually adjust the focus points to accomplish a specific focus (if your subject is not in the middle of the viewfinder, for instance.)

Finally, another factor in exposure is White Balance. Digital cameras will also allow you to set or alter your white balance. Most film cameras handle white balance in the film itself and you purchase your film to match the lighting situation you will be in, whereas most digital cameras will allow you to set or alter your white balance. On a digital camera, you can set your white balance for each image just as you can set the ISO for each image.

White balance is simply a fancy way of setting the color temperature of your image. The human eye is very adept at compensating for color changes in light and allowing us to view light in a very large spectrum. Camera sensors are not quite as intelligent, and they must be told what color the light is for a given situation in order to compensate for that color. For example, morning sunlight is very blue in color while evening sunlight is very yellow. Incandescent bulbs are very orange while fluorescent bulbs are very purple. Each of these settings will affect the color temperature of your photo. To compensate for this, all digital cameras come with some pre-set white balance settings such as Auto, Daylight, and Tungsten, among others. Properly setting your white balance for your lighting situation will greatly increase the impact of your photos and decrease the amount of time you spend editing them.

Obviously, we are just skimming the surface when talking about Exposure. We will address it again in future articles and play around with it in the form of challenges.

I'm absolutely fascinated about photography and really trying to learn and deepen more my knowledge about this digital hobby. Thanks to my very loving husbad...hehe, for providing me my dream slr cam last summer. The camera made me more passionate about photography. Since I have no time to attend to a photography school, aside from the fact that it's also very expensive, I just do self-study by searching some sites that provides free tutorials and helpful tip and tricks. Let me share some of the articles that i've found over the net that will surely benefit and educate those photographic enthusiasts like me.

The best way to think of photography is to think of light. That’s really what photography is -- capturing the light of the moment on film (or recording it onto a digital camera’s sensor). Virtually everything involved with a camera revolves around manipulating the available light to produce a photograph, and there are three main terms that interconnect with this manipulation: ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed.

ISO, APERTURE, AND SHUTTER SPEED

When you pick up your camera to take a photo, the first thing you need to consider is how much available light you have and the speed of your ISO setting. ISO stands for International Organization of Standards, but you really don’t need to remember that. What you do need to know is that ISO is the setting on your camera that tells your camera how quickly your film or digital image sensor will capture the light that it’s exposed to. The lower your ISO setting (100 speed, for example), the slower the exposure of light onto the film or image sensor will be. The faster the ISO (1000 speed, for example) the faster the exposure of light onto the film or sensor will be.

In other words, for lower ISO settings, you will need more light to correctly expose each image. Because a low ISO uses more light, the resulting image of a stationary object will be very sharp and clear. The higher the ISO setting, the less available light you will need, but keep in mind that the resulting image will be have more grain (or in the case of digital cameras, more digital noise).

Most modern film cameras will automatically set the ISO for you when you put in a roll of film. The benefit of digital SLR cameras, as well as some point and shoot or bridge cameras, is that you can adjust your ISO setting for each shot you take. As a general rule, for bright outdoor shots, choose 200 or 400 speed. When you move to a setting with less light, such as when you go indoors, you can quickly increase your ISO to 800, 1000, or higher to keep on taking photos.

Once you’ve gotten the idea behind ISO, then we need to move on to Aperture. The aperture is the opening in your lens right in front of where it connects to your camera that either opens to allow light to pour through the lens or closes to constrict the flow of light. The aperture acts like the iris of your eye in that it can control the volume of light provided to give you an accurate image.

Most point and shoot cameras have a fixed aperture (meaning you can’t change it), but virtually all bridge and digital SLR cameras have adjustable apertures. Apertures are referred to by their f/stop (a technical number obtained by taking the focal length of the lens and dividing it by the aperture of the lens). For example, you’ll see numbers like f/1.8 or f/5.6 used to describe a lens. In addition to indicating the aperture, f/stops represent the lens speed and indicate how quickly light will enter the lens and focus onto the film or digital sensor.

Here’s the important part -- the lower the f/ number the faster the lens will capture light onto the film or sensor. For example, if a lens is listed with an f/stop of f/2.8, then that is as wide as the aperture on the lens will open, as well as being the lowest f/stop allowed by that lens. At the lens’s lowest f/stop, nothing will stop the light from entering the lens and being captured by the camera. Light will flow through the lens like water that’s been unleashed from a dam. This is very nice in low light situations since low f/stops allow you to take pictures that you normally wouldn’t think possible, but there is a drawback. Because nothing is slowing the light from entering the camera, your lens will only focus on a small portion of the image and leave a large portion of the image blurred. This can be very nice or very frustrating.

With larger f/stops like f/22, the aperture on the lens closes down to the size of a pinhole and the light very slowly enters the camera. Because the light flow is restricted, the film or image sensor has much more time to capture that light and you will get images where almost everything in the image is in focus.

By the way, if you’ve heard the term “depth of field,” this is what it is referring to – the portion of your image that is in focus. A large depth of field would have more in focus and would use a larger f/stop. A shallow depth of field would have less in focus and use a smaller f/stop.

After you’ve set your ISO and considered your lens aperture, it’s time to move on to Shutter Speed. Now you’re probably beginning to figure out that if your lens aperture is at f/22 and light is slowly trickling into your camera, then anything moving would be a blur. The same could be said for instances when you have your ISO set at 100 and you’re trying to capture someone in motion. This is where your shutter speed comes into play with your f/stop and ISO settings.

Your shutter speed is how quickly the shutter, or the little door that opens in front of your film or image sensor, operates. It can range from several minutes to 1/1600 of a second or more. When you set your shutter speed on your camera, you’ll see numbers like 60, 120, 250 and so on. These actually represent 1/60th of a second, 1/120th of a second and so on. Generally speaking, if you are holding your camera and it is not mounted on a tripod, you should keep your shutter speed at 1/60th of a second or faster. To capture quickly moving objects your shutter speed should be around 1/1600th or faster.

When you combine the ISO setting, the aperture (or f/stop) setting and the correct shutter speed, you are putting together the pieces of the camera puzzle that create your exposure.

Typhoon Frank Lashes Metro Manila

I suddenly woke up yesterday dawn beacause of this loud and hurling sound of the trees due to strong wind. Typhoon Frank is already hitting metro manila! There's no rain yet at around 4:00am but the wind was really scary as if somebody's roof might be blow up again. Sam was still fast asleep at that time and didn't bothered by the noise caused by these strong wind. Power was still ok at that time but already cut-off at around 8:ooam. Heavy rain were already pouring before the sun slightly shines. Since there's no power available, there's no other way to know what's happening around. Typhoon Frank wrought heavy rains and strong winds surely caused heavy floods and still undetermined total damages in some part of the metro. But earlier news already claims some lives in the different provinces in the Philippines.

Since the power was cut-off and Sam was still sleeping, and there's nothing else to do yet, I just took the chance to get some photo ops. Above was a shot of the pouring rain from our backyard. I took a couple of shots to get a better picture. This was one of the best shot I've got. :p

Sam is so fascinated with "Yo Gabba Gabba!"

Sam has a new favorite tv show nowadays @ Nick Jr. It's the Yo Gabba Gabba show, a new children’s show that looks like it was created in some sort of time warp to both the future and the 1970’s at the same time. She's very fascinated with the chracters, maybe because of their very colorful costumes. She dances and sing especially if the "Party In My Tummy" song is being shown, she really loves the beat! :p Too bad, because she'll be missing to watch it already because her school just started. It is being aired daily @ 10:00am on Nick Jr, Sam's class schedule as well. I'll just try to get her a dvd collection of this new show so she can watch it after school. :p

Yo Gabba Gabba! is a fun live-action program for young children ages 1 and up. Toodee, the blue cat-dragon. She's very smart and independent. She's also athletic and mischievous. Sometimes she gets too excited about things and can be selfish.

Plex, the yellow robot. He's always there to provide music, teach lessons, and use his wonderful magical powers to beam guests into Yo Gabba Gabba Land. Like a parent, he typically knows how to solve problems.

Canon launches its Ambassador Program

Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. (CMP), the leader in total digital imaging solutions, extends a special promotional activity for photography clubs and organizations, dubbed the Canon Ambassador Program. The program provides a way for photography club members to help raise funds for their respective organizations by getting cash rebates whenever they purchase Canon products.

“Canon continues to find ways to support the local photography community, and the Canon Ambassador Program is just one of them. This will help boost the photo clubs’ fund raising efforts for their various activities and projects, and at the same time, encourages local photographers to continue supporting locally distributed products,” says Ramon Arteficio, CMP President and CEO.

An organization or club will receive PhP5,000 as rebate for every PhP250,000 accumulated purchase of participating Canon professional products, which include EOS digital SLR cameras and accessories, video cameras, PIXMA bubble jet printers, laser printers and multimedia projectors. To receive the rebate, the group must register and submit their organization profile, business permit, SEC/BIR registration and signed memorandum of agreement (MoA).

In addition to the rebates, Canon will be giving an additional prize of P100,000 in cash for the photo club who credits the highest amount of rebates.

“We launched this in 2007 and acceptance and support for the community was overwhelming. We decided to extend our Ambassador Program until June 2008 to give more photo clubs and organizations a chance to raise funds for their groups,” added Arteficio.

My Little Pre-schooler's First Day In School!

I'm very proud of my little Sam because she was able to overcome her shyness by being brave and cooperative on her very first day of school! I thought she would be clingy to me and will refuse me to leave her inside her classroom. Since it's the first day of school, the teachers still allowed us...the parents, to sit-in that's why i was able to shoot and captured some shots.

Teachers started the class with a prayer (that they need to memorize, by the way) followed by singing a couple of nursery rhymes. Then the teachers had this activity about the different animals and asked each of the student to identify some. So proud of Sam because she was able to answer all the questions that her teachers asked her :p Then for the story telling, they were asked to transfer to the other room (with floor matting already, toys, etc.). Sam was so mesmerize with this colorful room..haha! :p This time, parents were no longer allowed inside. But there's still this big window so we can take a peek once in a while. Again, my mamarrazi mode was turned on again!..hehe! The other classroom that they'll be having their formal class will be closed for us. Sam listens very well in the story telling and even tried to answers some questions. The other kids were not listening and just keep on playing at the back. After the story telling and some question & answers activity, It's time to go back to their classroom. But first, they need to identify their own shoes (because they were asked to removed it earlier) and wear it without any help. Good thing Sam was able to identify hers and was even able to put it back on her own. :p When they were asked to return to their classroom, parents were already off limits inside their room! They had their recess and the teachers checked on their things like the required books and other school stuffs. When their class was done, Sam immediately showed me her big Blue Star with a Very Good stamp in her left hand! Of course, I was surprised and really very proud with her very first achievement in school! Don't know what happened inside but I'm sure she did very well. :p

They're more than 10 students in the class with 2 teachers. Actually we still don't have a formal orientation yet, which I know is a must for us...the parents, to know the "what's in it" for our kids. I don't know when will be the schedule for that...arrgh! For now, they'll be having 5 subjects (5 books), a 20 mans recess from their 2 hours class..hehe, PE's on friday and that's it! When i asked the teachers, there's really a schedule for the orientation to discuss some important matters about the things they'll be teaching & what to expect with our kids academics and everything. Tomorrow will be their formal start of school na, so meaning no parents allowed na inside the classroom...huhu! :p... And to tell everybody, Sam is so excited and can't wait to go to her school again!

Visit to Our Lady Of Mananoag

After visiting the amusing Tacsiyapo Wall in Tarlac, we headed to our next destination...the church of Our Lady of Manaoag. I'm always hoping to visit this place ever since and I'm really glad to had it finally granted. Visiting the church with my familly was indeed a blessing for me and will be kept as one of my most treasured and memorable experience. We may not be that religous, but introducing to Sam at an early time the importance of being a good servant of God and thanking him for all the blessing she received is really important. Still looking forward to visit the church again in the future ni matter how far it is.

Manaoag Pangasinan is one of the Philippines pilgrimage centers, thanks to the presence of the Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine, home to the image of the Nuestra Señora del Rosario (i.e., Our Lady of the Rosary), which is believed to have miraculous powers. Non-Catholics may scoff at such idolatrous devotion, but that has not deterred millions of Filipino Catholics from visiting the shrine and venerating this representation of the Virgin Mary.

The image of Mary itself is said to have been brought to the Philippine Islands by way of Acapulco, Mexico by Padre Juan de San Jacinto around 400 years ago. Folk history even declares that it was the Virgin herself that designated where the church to house her image was to be built. Nowadays, pilgrims visit the church all year round but it is especially busy during the summer months of April and May. Many leave their homes before daybreak just to reach the morning masses in the shrine and to be the first in line to touch the image's robes through a small hole at the back of the altar.

Trivia:The church of Our Lady of Manaoag was established 400 years ago. Ten years after which, The ivory image was brought to the Philippines by Padre Juan de San Jacinto from Spain via Acapulco. Folk tradition has it that the Blessed Mother mary Herself designated the place where the church would be built. The church and Our Lady passed through unnumbered historical events, and remain unmoved by them.

Sam's New Pet!

Sam is going to school already this monday. And her school stuff are not yet complete!Gosh!..lol! Since we're already running out of time, I decided to take a short trip to the mall with my little girl. We headed to National Bookstore to shop for the rest of her school supplies. When we're done, we took our lunch first then we stroll around the mall for a while. Sam always requesting to drop by to Toy Kingdom to check some toys. After checking some toys, she was amazed to see a girl with this animal foil helium filled toy. The girl really enjoys her "pet" playing and running with this balloon type toy within the mall. Though Sam is not the type of kid that "what she wants, she should have", I decided to buy her her own. She was delighted to see that were heading back inside the toy kingdom. Approaching to these foiled animals, her face already filled with this awesome smile! I asked her choose your pet Sam & Mommy will buy it for you. She immediately choose the dalmatian design dog and handed it to me... "I like this mommy!" After paying the purchased dog at the counter, she said.."Thank you mommy!" ...aaaw! It really melts my heart that she appreciate my small gift for her. She already can't get enough of her new pet!. She's really happy playing and even talking with this toy even we're already heading home. I'm happy to see her also for giving her an instant playmate. Just need to maintain the helium inside every 5 days to retain it's shape. Cost P149.95 /Toy Kingdom.

My Little Mischief!

During the day, when I'm already done with my house chores, I make sure to play and bond with my little girl for a while before hitting my office desk formy online stuff like checking emails, blogging....etc. I let Sam to watch her favorite dvd movies to keep her occupied. For that day, she requested forthe Elmo's World dvd collection. While I'm in the pc, I ensure to take a peek and check her every once and a while to see if everything's ok with her. She's having a great time watching her favorite red puppet. I still can hardly hear her giggles and singing the elmo jingle. Then after a few minutes, I just noticed that there's a sudden silence, thinking that maybe she got exhausted from her non-stop dancing and singing. Can't help but to check on her. To my suprise, this was what I saw!

Oh noh!...She's playing with her baby powder!I didn't know how did she got it. She's having a great time spreading the powder into our couch...my goodness!...haha! Immediately grabbed my cam and caught her in action!..lol!

She even tried to step on it. "Parang di pa nakuntento sa kamay!...haha". She's still not aware that I'm already at her back...

Aha!.... she's really shocked to see me behind her. She was about to cry because she know that I'll be getting mad on her when she does something bad like this. But instead of getting mad on her, I just found myself laughing...haha! Her face is full of powder as well!...oh boy! She immediately said "sorry mommy!" with a sweet and irresistible smile..."paano ka ba naman magagalit nyan!...lol!

It's a "Farm" mommy!

One night, hubby and i were talking about our sudden plans to visit the zoo. Since we're staying at my in-laws, Manila Zoo is the nearest zoo where we can go.

Me: Hey baby, you want to go to the zoo?

Sam: wow! ( as in very delighted, imagening already what she can see inside the zoo!)...let's go mommy!

Me: No, we will go there tomorrow. So you better go to sleep early. Look at daddy he's sleeping na. (just pretending..hehe)

Sam: tomorrow morning?...the cow..and the tiger...and the elephant sleeping na?

Me: Yes sweetie, they are already sleeping. Tomorrow morning, they are going to wait for you so you better go to sleep now...ok?

Sam: ok mommy...( trying to sleep but still making kulit with her dad)

The next morning:

Me: (trying to wake her up to prep her) Sam...wake wake up!

Sam: noooo!...sleep pa! (covering her face with her "nutnot")

Me: remember, we are going to see the animals today.

Sam: (very delighted on what she heard) ...going to see the animals? (with a big smile on her face)

Mommy: Yes baby... get up now.

Sam: suddenly seats up! and said yey!....let's go to the "Farm" na..

Me: later sweetie, we're going to eat first then then take a bath... and it's not a Farm baby...it's a Zoo!

Sam: no...Farm...with the different animals (then she suddenly say...iyaiyayo!!!)

I suddenly realized that she's talking about Old MacDonald had a farm song!...she's pertaining to the different animals inside the "Farm"...haha! Oo nga naman, farm nga nman at hindi zoo...di ko agad na gets!...lol! :p

Tacsiyapo, Tarlac

On our journey going to Baguio. we took the chance to drop by at Isdaan Restaurant and Tacsiyapo Wall at Tarlac. The first thing that will surely steal your attention are the Mayan/Aztec-themed, and some giant fish sculptures outside the restaurant. This floating resto is located along the hi-way at Gerona, Tarlac. There are giant fish too hanging from fishing-rods.

Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll find floating bahay kubos for dining. There’s a lot to see around the place. There are some giant urinating/spitting monkeys. It’s a multi-player game where the players try their luck staying dry. The winner (the one who stay dry until the end) gets 1 kilo of fish cooked any way the winner wants.

The Tacsiyapo Wall was featured many times on TV and on print. Guests buy a mug or plate (P8-15) or even a functioning TV (P1,500). Once you’ve chosen your “weapon”, take a deep breath, then throw your it unto the wall, break it into pieces and release your tension along shouting Tacsiyapo as loud as you can. Isn't that an effective stress therapy!. Try to drop by here to experience this unique way to release your anger...hehe

Trivia:'Tacsiyapo' is a kapangpangan term which means "Shame on you!" Quite appropriate actually, since the wall where you get to smash your wares is labelled with different issues over which Filipinos usually get frustrated. Favorite targets on the wall are "5-6!," "Boss / Managers / Supervisors, etc. !" and "Mother / Father in Law!" It is comforting to know that you are not the only one suffering from the same problem.

It's Finally Ours!!!

At long last...after a couple of questions and endless requests to the admin of Trinoma, they agreed (with the sponsors approval first) to finally give the showcased portraits to us...the winners of the mall's photo competition Portraits: Mom & I @ Trinoma!...yey! As you can see, we already got ours...hehe. I just asked my bro to pick it up for me yesterday which is good thing I did! I didn't realized that it's really big. Now, I'm still thinking where to put it....is it on the living room or in the bedroom?...hmmm...help me decide! :p
